My work is a real mix of fun, colourful kids illustration and moody scenery and landscapes from around Teignmouth, Devon. I draw all my images by hand and colour them digitally. I real mix of old and new. I hope you enjoy having a look through and please take a look at my shop should any particular images catch your eye.
What is your style?
I love to draw, doodle and sketch. I use good old HB pencil to draw, most of the time in either a scruffy sketchbook, or just some A4 printer paper. Once I’m happy with what I have created, I scan it in to my laptop. From there, the exciting stuff happens. I use Photoshop to build my image and colour it. For this I use a stylus, a pen that works with the computer. The pen includes various digital brushes, with which I can create all the textures and layers of the image. I wouldn’t know how to describe my style really. Its bright, bold, colourful, and I hope fun
Why do you like illustration?
I like an image to tell a story. I love hiding little insights in my images, or little snippets of information you don’t always see straight away. My characters have always got complete back stories, I need to understand them before their personalities can come to life.
In my landscapes, I enjoy trying to capture the beauty of a certain moment, or share an insight into a particular location. Living in Devon there are so many great places to get out and draw, that sometimes it’s hard to know where to start.
